The Laws of Reality

The Laws of Reality  : a serie

The Laws of Reality Introduction
This series of articles is under the Metaphysics of Science.
The introduction begins thus, with the author:
My name is Iam Bloom. I obtained a degree in Philosophy and Religion from San Francisco State University in 2007. Although, I really began my journey into philosophy and religion at a much younger age.
When I was 6 I realized that the world I was experiencing was not what the world could be, or should be (according to my 6 year old mind), and I began trying to articulate to my parents what was wrong with the world. My parents, bless them, are not the most spiritual people and had little guidance to give me, so I began to search for those that might be able to speak to the truth I felt within me.
From the age of about 8 until the age of 13 I attended every church, synagog, temple, mosque, or place of worship available in the city I grew up. I did find that there was a vast amount of information from each of these religions, sects, and paths that resonated with the sense of truth I never lost touch with. Yet, there was always a small amount which did not seem to fit and, inevitably, those small pieces were always foundational structures of these belief systems. Feeling as though I could not participate in any religious community without embracing each and every belief, I left because I would have felt like a hypocrite otherwise.
It was at this point that I began to explore and read beyond the mainstream and readily available. I discovered philosophy, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shinto, and the many shades of paganism. It was here that I found even more that felt right and true, as well as new words and ways of expressing these concepts which transcended the senses and the mortal life.
This is my background and my attempt to show that what I am going to be talking about is something I have been immersed in for the better part of 25 years.
Introduction to the Laws of Reality series
It is my goal to present to you, the reader, what I have learned about, and how to talk about, the Laws of Reality. I am going to pull from a variety of sources, of which I will share liberally, as well as putting my own spin on the entire conception.
I am going to pull from, to start with, The Kybalion by the Three Initiates, originally published in 1908. I am going to use this book on Hermetic Philosophy because I believe it to be the most concise in its formulation of Law. We are going to start from the point of the Seven Principles as set down by the Hermetics and expand from there in each subsequent article.
I am going to present here the outline for the articles that will follow as we unfold in this process of giving away knowledge. Therefore, what follows are the titles of the articles in order.
What is Hermetic Philosophy?
The Principle of Mentalism
The Principle of Correspondence
The Principle of Vibration
The Principle of Polarity
The Principle of Rhythm
The Principle of Cause and Effect
The Principle of Gender

It is from these principles that we will explore the rediscovery of their truth by our modern science and how they already make intuitive, or common, sense in our experience of the world.
In the words of the Three Initiates “the lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding.”
Nothing I am going to present here I hold as absolute truth. On the contrary, the words and descriptions here merely point to truth, which is truly ineffable and beyond all limitation. I invite each of you to try to apply these lessons in your own life, test them in the laboratory of your own experience to see if they are useful tools or not. If they are not, please discard them and find tools which allow you to create the greatest expression of your existence. However, if you find these to be useful tools, I would challenge you to find deeper and deeper expressions and applications of them. There is always a greater understanding, always further to go, always closer to get to complete understanding and truth.
Thank you for joining me on this journey as we push the boundaries of what we think we know and challenge that which is yet to be understood. Each of us is greater, stronger, and more powerful then we may normally allow ourselves to be. Every need and desire can be meet and exceeded, the greatest possible expression of your life wishes to be lived, it simply requires the courage to push past the known and explore the unknown.
